Dumpster weight limits, explained
Why a dumpster can reach its weight limit before it's full.

How much weight is included
Each dumpster size includes a set amount of weight: 1 ton on the 10 yard, 1.5 tons on the 15, 2 tons on the 20 and 23, 3 tons on the 30 and 4 tons on the 40. Anything over that is $85 a ton.
Heavy materials
Shingles, tile, plaster, concrete, brick and dirt weigh much more than they look. A dumpster with these in it can go over its weight while it still looks half empty. Concrete, brick and dirt are best kept in a separate clean fill dumpster. Ask us about one.
Light materials
Furniture, mattresses, boxes, cabinets and most household items take up space long before they get heavy. For these, choose a size with enough room.
Avoiding surprises
Tell us what's going in when you book. If the load is heavy, we'll tell you how much weight comes with each size so you can decide before the dumpster arrives. Going a little over can still cost less than moving up a size, and we'll help you compare.
