Do I need a dumpster permit in Indianapolis?

On your own property, usually not. On the street, check with the city first.

On your own property

A dumpster on your own driveway, gravel or lot usually doesn't need a permit from the city.

On the street or sidewalk

Streets, alleys and sidewalks are public property. If the dumpster has to sit there, contact the City of Indianapolis, or your own city or town, before your delivery date. Each one sets its own rules.

Homeowners associations

Many neighborhoods have rules about where a dumpster can sit and for how long. Check with your HOA before you book.
